A global initiative towards falls prevention and management
This map shows our level of representation from countries across the globe (darker shades of blue indicate higher representation)
The 10th Biennial Australia and New Zealand Falls Prevention Conference will for the first time be run as a joint conference with the World Congress on Falls and Postural Stability at the Perth Convention Centre, Western Australia, 26 – 28 November 2023. The 1st World Congress on Falls and Postural Stability was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in December 2019 – a joint initiative of the Malaysian Society of Geriatric Medicine and the British Geriatrics Society, while the Australia and New Zealand Falls Prevention Society (ANZFPS) has been hosting a biennial conference since 2004.
The conference will showcase the latest research outcomes, program implementation, training, and policy and planning innovations in falls prevention in Australia, New Zealand and internationally. The conference will be complemented with practical pre-conference workshops to support skill development and implementation of key aspects of falls prevention. We are calling for abstract and symposia submissions covering the following topics:
1. Understanding (mechanisms and aetiology of falls)
2. Preventing (development and evaluation of interventions)
3. Engaging (involvement and engagement of people)
4. Implementing (policy and practice)
Did you miss the abstract submission deadline? The opportunity exists for a limited number of oral presentations in a session dedicated to new information or important findings not fully available before the general abstract submission deadline. Late-breaking poster submissions will also be considered.
